Truly Random Rosecombs

Funky chickens. You name it, I might have it. Random Rosecombs can spring out of any variety, but seem to come from Blue most of the time.
This is perhaps the most fun thing about working with colors--sometimes just when you get to the point when you think you know what you will get, you end up with something totally different!

sport Rosecomb

This is "Ferrugi." He hatched in 1998. He was what is known as a Blue Red Sport (supposedly will produce 100% Blue Red if bred to BBRed but I have not tried it yet). I kept him because he was without a doubt the prettiest chicken I had ever seen, but he was also sort of a pet too. :-) Years ago I threw him in with a few of the F1 Red Pyle hens "to see what would happen" and wow I got some amazing stuff! Take a look at some of his offspring on the Blue Red, Red Pyle, and Lemon Blue pages!
12/8/04: Ferrugi has gone to the great chicken coop in the sky...may he rest in peace.
